Fishing
Lake St. Clair
Bass
Fishing:
If BIG BASS is what you want then Lake St. Clair is where
you want to be fishing. Four pound bass are a regular occurance
during the open season. Bass season opens the last Saturday
in June and closes at the first of December. There is not a
lot of structure on the lake and the use of a GPS is essential
to finding these hidden spots. Rock piles and weed beds are
key to finding bass.
One
of the most common places to fish for Lake St. Clair smallies
is the Belle River hump. But there a number of other locations
that hold good smallie populations. Tubes are one of the best
baits to use, they are great for charters because it can get
a little too close for comfort when casting. It is not unusual
to catch more than 50 bass in a day
Musky
Fishing:
Muskie fishing on Lake St. Clair has quickly become one of the
fastest growing sought after species on the lake. Many are travelling
across the country and from around the world to seek the fiercest
fish in freshwater. With such a large body of water, trolling
is the best way to cover ground.
There are a variety of baits that are used but the best baits
are body baits that imitate forage in LSC. Woodies are a local
bait that have been a top producer, other baits that are used
include, Wileys, Terminators, Producers and Rapala Super Shads.
Natural colors like perch, frog and bass are commonly used by
charter captains. Come enjoy a day of Motor City Muskie Madness
on Lake St. Clair
